The MCHS wakerski and wakeboard team was started in the spring of 2007 to promote the sport of waterskiing and wakeboarding. Throughout the summer season of 2007 we met several times a week to ski, wakeboard, wake-skate, and just have fun. For 2008 we are also hoping to compete with other schools in our area.
In the beginning of June 2007 we were able to have professional ski coach, Mike Suyderhoud come out to our lake and coach us. Mike is the founding father of the West Coast Slalom style of skiing and coaches Champion skiers Marcus Brown and Terry Winter.
We also had former University of Illinois wakeboarder Brit Reynolds out here at the beginning of August 2007 to show us some tricks. He is Minooka High School graduate. Brit, who does photography for USA Waterski, was able to help photograph our team.
Our program is currently run through Minooka Community High School and sponsored by Munson Ski and Marine. Donations from other corporations and individuals help to defray the cost of the program. Thank you Underground Pipe and Valve in Shorewood for your donation in 2008.
